UK site for VLE/Distance Learning worth the preview (IMHO).
Why?  Sometimes one just has to see how others have done (and what they are talking about) to spur ideas and make connections.

Their Moodle:
http://moodle.lse.ac.uk/

Their Blog:
http://elearning.lse.ac.uk/blogs/clt/

And something seen by following those links at the bottom of sites called
CommmentPress - a wordpress theme for social text - which was developed
by the Institute for the Future of the Book.
http://www.futureofthebook.org/commentpress/

The above interface was used in the 2009 Horizon Report:
http://wp.nmc.org/horizon2009/

In the Future of the Book Blog there was a reference to this YouTube
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aK75RSQBZYs
It's in French and the title: "Possible ou Probable".
(translation: Possible or Probable)
Book of the Future Video

Regardless if you understand the spoken language, the images are enough
to convey the ideas.  While this little posting is about digital books, it should be noted that video learning (like the Possible or Probable video) was able to convey a message despite a language barrier/handicap by the viewer.
